Moufflon (Ovis musimon)

After having been stocked from Corsica moufflons were relegated to the background. Among the numerous world record trophies of deer, fallow deer, and of roe moufflons trophies were not paid much attention. But in 1986 in Telki a specimen with 104 cm horns was bagged. The tenth place on the world top list was obtained and the good quality of the moufflons in Hungary was proven. Since then several bucks with horns about a metre have been bagged, which shows that the quality of stock of moufflon has been improving thanks to the experts’ excellent work. The best stocks are to be found in the mountains Mátra, Bükk und Pilis. Thanks to restocking one can see them almost everywhere on the hilly regions. The way of bagging moufflons is stalking. Walking in the hills and going stalking is a challenge that suits a real sportsman. However, jeep and horse carriage are at hunters’ disposal if it is requested. The main season is in November and December. Moufflon hunt, deer hunt and boar hunt match perfectly.
