Our stock of roe is estimated at 250.000 animals. We can say that roe spread most in Hungary. Roes are hunted on each hunting-ground. The best hunting-grounds are located along the river Tisza and river Körös in county Szolnok and in county Békés but the stock of roe is good almost on the entire Hungarian Plain (Alföld). West of the Danube there are plenty of roes with somewhat lighter antlers. Sometimes one can bag an old buck with antlers over 500 grams. Traditionally one starts hunting roe on the 15th April after antlers became ossified and have been rubbed shiny. Hunters can catch sight of roes with antlers in the low vegetation. Until the first days of May thousands of roes are bagged. This is the time when it comes to light how the quality of the stock of roe has improved. In Hungary the time of calling roes with decoy pipe begins in the middle of July and it lasts for two or three weeks. It is an unforgettable experience when bucks are rushed by the whistling sound produced by hunters. The roe buck, which is otherwise terribly suspicious, reacts to the call of Love, which amuses hunters very much. This is the time when roe bucks which live in the depths of the forest and which one has not seen before appear. There are more and more hunters who like connecting roe hunt and summer holiday flavoured with boar hunt on the stubble-field. Whatever you like, be it a relaxing holiday, stunted bucks to be shot or roes with surroyal crowns, we shall find the proper hunting-ground for you.
I. The stock of roe in the Transdanubian region is of medium quality, the quantity is satisfying. Average antlers weigh 230-250 grams and large ones weigh 350-400 grams.
II. The average weight of the highland stock of roe in the forest of the Bakony mountain is 220-240 grams. Large ones weigh 350-400 grams.
III. The average weight of the highland stock of roe in the forest in the North Central Chain of Mountains is 220-260 grams. Large ones weigh 350-380 grams.
IV. The stock of roe in the Hungarian Plain is of excellent quality and the quantity is satisfying. Average antlers weigh 350-400 grams, large ones weigh 450-500 grams.
V. The stock of roe on the region along the river Tisza matches the world standard. Average antlers weigh 360-420 grams, large antlers weigh 550-650 grams.
