In the forests of Hungary wild boars spread the most and this animal is the hunters’ favourite. Wild boar is in season all the year round. The sow, needed for bringing up the piglets, may not be hunted until porklings become independent. Boars can be bagged from stand or you can stalk them. Finding the old chap camouflaged with fresh snow-dust is a marvellous feeling. It is less known but boar can be hunted in June on the cornfields as well. With good wind and with an experienced personal guide you can approach the herd to a distance of 3 or 4 meters and you can choose the boar or piglet. It is popular to hunt boar in the company of 4-5 persons. The assistants who are few but practised see to that the herd should be driven in a proper way. Hunters can choose shooting the boar or the piglet. The top of boar hunt is the well organised hunt with a pack. The sight of boar chased by hounds through the forest just before the gun barrel cannot be compared with anything. In the boar-reserve the daily bag is 100-120 wild-boars. These boars in the game-reserve were trapped in the forest and they are as wild as their fellows at large. Hunters have a great choice of methods of hunting boar.
